Obituary of George Thomas Meagher

George Thomas Meagher, age 91, of Edgewater, NJ was called home to be with the Lord on April 22, 2023.

He passed on peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.

George was a son of immigrants from Ireland. A graduate of Saint Cecilia Hight School.

U.S. Marine Corps. Purple Heart Recipient, Korean Service Medal W/1.  To present George was a proud member 

of The American Legion Post 116 of Edgewater, NJ. He was an active parishioner of Holy Rosary Church.  

A member of Edgewater Board of Adjustments.

After the Korean War he worked in construction and then as a Real Estate Broker and manager.

He was a son, husband, father, grandfather, and a wonderful friend.  He will be sadly missed by all.

Predeceased by his wife Rose Shirley Meagher, his parents Thomas and Margaret Meagher, his sister

Mary Barown, brothers Daniel and Michael Meagher, and later in life his special companion Dorothy Menist.

He is survived by his son George J. Meagher, his wife Gerry, daughters Elaine Meagher and Lia Meagher, and

Tony Smart, grandchildren Elly, Daniel and Michael Meagher. Uncle to Linda Miozzi, Michael

McLaughlin, Kathy Hannon and Patricia Kane.  Great uncle to Evan and Emilie McLaughlin.

A Funeral/Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Church in Edgewater, NJ on Thursday April 27, 2023 at 11AM.
