Obituary of Virginia Teresa Alasio

Please share a memory of Virginia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Virginia (Jinny) Alasio (née Cerame), a cherished resident of West Milford, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2024, at the age of 80. Jinny was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose vibrant spirit and boundless generosity left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Born to Jose and Delia (née Sola) Cerame on September 20, 1943, Jinny grew up in a loving home in Fort Lee, New Jersey, alongside her elder brother, Joseph Cerame, Esq., who predeceased her in 2020. She graduated from The Academy of the Holy Angels in Fort Lee and worked as a legal secretary for several prestigious law firms in Manhattan until her retirement in 2019.

Jinny married her soulmate, Victor Alasio, in 1967, and together they raised three wonderful children in Cliffside Park. Victor's passing in 2006 was a profound loss, but Jinny continued to honor his memory through her unwavering dedication to their family. She is survived by her children: Teresa Alasio (Emmanuel Chesnais) of New Canaan, Connecticut; Joseph Alasio (Holly (née Leach), of New Milford, New Jersey; and Nicole Martone (David), of Cliffside Park, New Jersey. Jinny was a proud grandmother to her six grandchildren: Matthew Alasio, Isabel Alasio, Christopher Martone, Zachary Martone, Nicolas Chesnais, and Sebastian Chesnais.

Jinny was an adventurous soul with a passion for travel. She delighted in exploring new places with friends and family, creating cherished memories along the way. She was an avid fan of Broadway shows and enjoyed hosting lively dinner parties. Her apartment complex was often filled with the sound of laughter during movie nights, where Jinny's warm and welcoming nature made her a friend to all.

In addition to her vibrant social life, Jinny was known for her kindness and generosity. She was always ready to lend a helping hand and her genuine care for others endeared her to everyone she met. Jinny's ability to make those around her feel special and loved was a testament to her beautiful spirit.

Jinny is now reunited with her husband, Victor, and her brother, Joseph. She leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and friendship that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A Celebration of Life Mass will take place on July 17, 2024, at Madonna Church (Main Chapel), 340 Main Street, Fort Lee, NJ, at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jinny's memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital

Jinny's radiant smile and generous heart will forever be missed but never forgotten. May she rest in eternal peace.
