Obituary of Genevieve Elaine Ramirez
Genevieve Elaine Ramirez, 85, of Ridgefield Park, NJ. As of Saturday August 3rd, the world is a little less beautiful, there are a lot more broken hearts in it and a life full of love has peacefully ended. She just went to bed like normal after a really good, clear day with her last words being, “Good night, Sweetie, I love you” and then, in the gentle night, fell to her forever sleep. Thank you, God. She is the beloved daughter of the late Christopher and the late Karin (née Peterson) Murray. Loving mother to Janine O'Hara (Kevin), Elaine Ramirez-Horn and Raymond Ramirez (Sharon). Devoted grandmother to Ricky, Brianna, Shanyn, Aiden, Brendan, Mackenzie, Allie and Mason. Genevieve is also survived by her sisters, Ruth Ann Crewe and Corinne Erikson (Arthur) and her sister-in-law, Lois Murray. She was predeceased by her brothers, Thomas, James and Christopher Murray. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Genevieve loved her family deeply, especially her grandchildren. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
She was hardworking and started working at a young age as a medical assistant for Dr. Koenigsburg in Union City, she also held a second job at Bowler City for many years and ended her work-life in her late 70’s as a medical biller for our cousins, Dawn and Rose. She worked alongside her younger brother Jimmy in those later years with whom she was very close. She was fiercely protective of her children and family and loved us all with her whole heart and soul and everything she had. She was brave and amazingly strong, so hard-working, stunningly beautiful with the most beautiful hazel eyes. She loved parties and music like Elvis and Englebert Humperdinck and then later Bruno Mars. She loved to dance and had some signature moves that we all know and can copy. She loved her Poconos Villa where all were welcome each summer for 25 years (good times). She bowled and played poker. She loved the Point Pleasant Boardwalk, Amusement Parks and Fairs, but family gatherings and holidays were totally her favorite thing. She threw rocking New Year’s Eve parties for decades (her birthday was January 1) and spooktacular Halloween parties as well. We now have the most beautiful, fierce, loving and protective angel to watch over us and to send us rainbows when we need them and whose beauty, love and memory we will cherish forever and keep close to our hearts and thoughts every day. Watch over us, please…until we meet again.
