Obituary of Rosa Schisano
Please share a memory of Rosa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
SCHISANO - Rosa, 83, formerly of Fort Lee NJ, peacefully passed from this world on December 23, 2016 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s at Eddy Village Green in Cohoes NY. She was surrounded by the love of family and friends. She is predeceased by her husband, Anthony; and her sisters, Concetta, Serafina, and Livia.
Rosa is survived by her son, John; brother Salvatore (Phyllis) Gargiulo; sisters-in-law, Maria Mazzola and Philomena (Ted) Axenrod; and the families of many nieces and nephews.
Rosa emigrated with her parents from Torca, Italy after WWII and lived in Jersey City before marrying and moving to Fort Lee. Mom was the consummate housewife. In her quiet and unassuming ways, she attended to all matters both large and small; affectionately being nicknamed “the Boss” by her husband. She filled the house with song even while performing chores. The house was always open whether for holiday gatherings with family or a quick cup of coffee with the neighbors. Mom was always ready to lend a hand whether to care for an ailing family member or as a babysitter for her grand nieces and nephews. She was a woman of faith having served many years as a member of the Holy Rosary Society and various prayer groups at Saint Nicholas Church. She cherished the friendship of many of the Vocationist Fathers that served the parish. More recently, she was a communicant at St Clare’s in Colonie, NY.
Her son would like to acknowledge the support of both family and friends during Mom’s final years. Deepest heartfelt thanks go to the various caregivers that assisted Mom over the years: Lolita and Michelle from HomeInstead; Donna, Jacki, Kathy, and Renee from Marjorie Doyle Rockwell Center; Tiff, Bre, Bella, Kelly, Angela, Holly, Khary, GiGi, Judy, Liz, Shaniya, Chris, Dr. Jue, Linda, Debbie, Annie, Besem, Marvin, Fanio, and Kay of House 5 Eddy Village Green.

Entombment to follow at Madonna Mausoleum, 2070 Hoefleys Lane, Fort Lee, Visiting hours on Wednesday, from 2-4 and 7-9PM.
