Obituary of Richard Russell Carroll

Richard "Russell" Carroll, 78, of Fort Lee, N.J., on Monday, April 3, 2017. Russell was born to the late John and Alice (née Toomey) Carroll in Cliffside Park, N.J., where he grew up and attended Epiphany Grammar School. Russell graduated from St. Michael's High School in Union City, N.J.; from St. Peter's College in Jersey City, N.J., and furthered his education with a Master's Degree in Education. Russell served in the United States Army from 1961-1963 and later received his Doctoral Degree from Fordham University in New York. He was a teacher at Cliffside Park School No. 6 for many years. Russell was heavily involved in music and theater. His wry sense of humor will be missed by many. Loving brother of Jim Carroll, his wife Marion, Margaret Spadaccini, her husband Gene, Billy Carroll, his wife Joan, Mary Alice Haran, her husband Kevin, and his sister-in-law Janet Carroll. Many loving nieces and nephews also survive. Russell was predeceased by his brothers Thomas, John, Joseph, and his sister-in-law Florence. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 AM, Friday, April 28, 2017 at the Church of the Epiphany in Cliffside Park. Burial of cremains to follow at St. Luke Cemetery, in Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations in Russell's honor may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
