Obituary of Wilhelmina Salcedo Silberg
Wilhelmina Salcedo Silberg, 77, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2017, in Mobile, AL. A native of the Philippines, Wilhelmina was born to Serapion Salcedo and Praxides Berdon Villaver on June 21, 1940. She married James P. Silberg in 1975, and moved to the United States to live the “American Dream”, which she was successful in accomplishing. She and her husband James spent 21 years in New Jersey, before relocating to Mobile, Alabama. Wilhelmina received an Associate’s Degree in Business, and was an exemplary model of an independent woman with a strong work ethic. She loved yoga and going to the gym, as well as relaxing with a good, classic movie. Wilhelmina was extremely strong in her faith, being a steadfast parishioner of Little Flower Catholic Church in Mobile. She was a good mother, good aunt, and a good friend. She is loved and will be greatly missed.
Wilhelmina was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, James P. Silberg; her parents, Serapion Salcedo and Praxides Villaver; and three brothers, “Lolong” Berdon, Emiliano Villaver, and Dioscoro Villaver.
She is survived by her daughter, Geralen (Eric) Silberg-Kupchik; two sisters, Fernanda Timtim and Arcadia Ybanez; one brother, Ramone Villaver; cousins, Edwin Fernandez, Claudia Caratao, Hiroshi Berame; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loved family and friends in the United States as well as the Philippines.
Visitation for Wilhelmina will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, August 21, 2017 at McCorry Brothers Funeral Home 780 Anderson Ave., Cliffside Park, NJ. Mass on Tuesday August 22, 10 AM at the Church of the Epiphany 247 Knox Ave., Cliffside Park, NJ. Burial at Rosehill Cemetery, Union, NJ.
