Obituary of Barbara R. Hallock
Barbara Rina Hallock, (nee Ruggeri), 75, passed away on Sunday January 15, 2023. She was born in Poscante, Italy, to the late Giovanni and Rosetta (nee Gherardi). She came to the United States in 1955.
Barbara lived for the weekends and the holidays enjoying their home in Mt. Pocono, PA. Jerry and Barbara loved to entertain friends and family in the quiet country setting, the environment was their little piece of heaven where relaxing beside a warm fire, cooking a meal, or sitting on the backyard patio were the simple pleasures of life.
My mom was generous of heart sharing whatever she had with others and took pleasure in helping neighbors, family and friends. She loved her grandsons very much, Sean, Ryan, and Nicholas, where she would enjoy spending time with them watching them grow, share in conversations about their day, and teaching them life principles in faith, love, school, and family.
She was always appreciative of the phone calls and visitors who cheered her on through these last difficult years. My mom was a trooper rarely complaining and bravely forging ahead to live the best life possible under difficult circumstances. She is our hero. A warrior…who championed the hurdles of life. 2 Timothy 4:7-8, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day - and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing”.
Barbara is survived by her beloved husband Gerald, Jerry, her loving children Jennifer McDermott (Francis), and Nicole Hallock, her cherished grandchildren Sean, Ryan and Nicholas McDermott, and caring siblings Virginia Polino (the late Oto) and Vincent Ruggeri (Allisson) and the late John (his surviving wife Dianne) & the late Alfred Ruggeri. Many nieces and nephews and cousins also survive.
Visitation will be held on Thursday January 19, 2023, from 3-8 PM. Family and friends will gather at Our Lady of Grace Church, 395 Delano Place, Fairview, NJ, on Friday January 20 for Mass at 10:00 AM. Entombment to follow in Fairview Mausoleum, Fairview, NJ.
